Ahmedabad’s 50 year old four star Cama Hotels Limited has entered into a management contract with Berggruen Hotels. As part of the contract, Berggruen will manage the 50 year old Cama Hotel with new name Keys Hotel Cama. Keys Hotel is the mid-market brand of Berggruen hotels. Promoted by New York based Berggruen Holdings, Berggruen Hotels is also building a 100 room hotel in Vadodara on RC Dutt road.
As Bergguruen one of the target classes is lonely woman travelers, as a way to upkeep the privacy and security of the hotel guest, videophones will be installed in the rooms whereby a hotel guest would be able to see and talk to the person at the door through the videophone.
“The three cities of Pune, Jaipur and Ahmedabad are suffering from low-occupancy woes what with the demand being around 9 to 10 percent while the supply in hospitality space has gone up by almost 100 percent owing to a lot of hotel chains opening up in the cities in the recent years. We chose to build on an already existing brand so we can work off the existing supply and stabilise this situation of low occupancy. We will leverage the old world charm of Cama Hotel with our management expertise and cater to the new age traveller,” said Sanjay Sethi, managing director and CEO of Berggruen Hotels.
Located on bank of Sabarmati River, Renowned architect Charles Correa designed Cama Hotel that dominated market for decades before the new entrants emerged in Ahmedabad city.
