American company Kohler opened it’s manufacturing unit at central Gujarat’s Jhagadia in the Bharuch district with an investment of Rs 60 crore to produce faucets.
The new plant has CNC machining, automatic electroplating, low pressure die casting and assembly lines manufacturing facilities. A Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) facility will soon be set up in the plant.
The new plant will cater to the luxury and premium services segment in India. In the first phase, the new plant has an installed capacity of around one million units.
The new plant has come up on 25 acres of land next to it’s existing ceramic ware plant. The company already has over 200 acres of land at Jhagadiya. The new plant will initially employ a few hundred people.
“This new plant will bring Kohler’s global expertise in design to Indian homes with world-class faucets for both kitchens and bathrooms,” said David Kohler, president, Kohler Company. He said that the company had various plans of expanding and creating new facilities in Jhagadiya in the future.
Kohler has made consolidated investments of $100 million in India so far.
