Tata Power plans to commission 1,900 MW in 2011: report

Tata Power has reportedly said that it is planning to add 60% of its installed generation capacity by commissioning over 1,900 MW in 2011

The report stated that the company will be commissioning 800 MW in Mundra, 1,050 MW in Maithon’s two units, 120 MW in Jojobera with Tata Steel, 100 MW in wind and 25 MW of solar in Gujarat.

Tata Power has an installed power generation capacity of about 3,000 MW, says report.

There are reports that TATA Power will commission first 800 MW unit of ultra mega power project at Mundra in Gujarat by September 2011.

    Appears to be a positive development. For any economy to sustain the growth, it is essential to provide excellent infrastructure including power, water and communication at reasonable costs. It is a well known fact that India is a power deficit country and the situation is only going to aggravate in coming years. Would happy to see Gujarat becoming a role model for the other states when in comes to providing stable, uniterrupted and abundant power supply at reasonable costs to citizens as well as corporates. Still a long way to go…
