State Bank of India launches solar power ATM in Bhunga of Kutch border village

The State Bank of India today launched an ATM in traditional ‘Bhungo’ hut at Gujarat’s Kutch district border village Dhordo.

Dhordo is going to witness a one-month long Ranotsav tourism event between 19 December and 19 January. About two thousand tourists and guests from all over the world will visit Dhordo tent city during this period. Moreover there will be presence of police jawans, government officials and hundreds of other persons involved in the event.

According to the Chief General Manager of SBI Gujarat Shri P.Nandakumaran, the new ATM will cater to the need of 150 border area villages.

Nandkumaran added that a special thumb impression device has been installed to allow the use of ATM by the illiterate villagers.

This is the first ATM of the state which runs on solar power. Jawans of BSF who are manning the international border with Pakistan in the bordering district of Kutch will also be benefited by the ATM.
