Prices of vegetables have doubled up in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat amid unseasonal rain.

Price rise has been witnessed in almost every variety of vegetable at around 70 to 100% this week.

According to the traders at Ahmedabad’s Jamalpur based wholesale agriculture market, following are the factors responsible for price rise:

-Unseasonal rain in not only Gujarat but many other parts of the country, from where vegetables are procured.
-Heavy damage to standing vegetable crop due to unseasonal rain.
-Wedding season, due to which the demand of vegetables has gone high. Such season has arrived after four months gap.
