Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate a 250 MW Lignite based power plant at Nani Naroli near Mangrol in South Gujarat.
Gujarat Industrial Power Company Limited(GIPCL) officials are busy in final preparations for inaugural function which would be graced by several ministers along with the Chief Minister.
Gujarat government’s GIPCL is already operating one 250 MW unit in Nani Naroli. The new unit of same capacity is extension of existing plant.
The new facility has come up at cost of Rs 1200 crore. It should be mentioned here that Modi had performed ground breaking ceremony for same plant.
The company is also planing for another 600 MW plant.
Expansion of Lignite Mines to support expanded plant is in advanced stage of implementation. A captive Lignite Mine has been developed at Mangrol (adjacent to Vastan) and the mining lease for the same is available.
Government of Gujarat has consented to allot 500 MW Expansion Phase-3 also to Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited and the Site Selection, Environmental Clearance, and Engineering Activities by consultants for the same are in progress.
