37% net surfing in India through Cybre cafes,30% through offices:IAMAI report

Most of the people in India use internet for E-mail. The second preferred cause of use is general information search and the third is Education information search. The other usage area respectively are Music/Video on the internet, text chat, online jobsites, Financial information search, railway tickets booking, online news, telephony/Audio/Video chat and lastly the smallest segment of users connect to internet for online banking. This data was revealed in a survey carried out by Internet & Mobile Association of India(IAMAI).

The survey was carried out in 31 cities of India including Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat. According to IAMAI survey report, 37% people use internet in cybre cafe and 30% in their offices. 44% of total internet users are students and if you add youths in this then the figure is 72%. This means most of the internet users are youths. Small centres have witnessed larger growth in terms of internet usage. The total figure of internet users in India has reached 7.1 million.
