Gujarat Gas announces CNG price hike of Rs 2.46

Gujarat Gas has increased CNG(Compressed Natural Gas as fuel for vehicles) price by Rs 2.46 per kg.

From Sunday, price of CNG in Surat, Bharuch and Ankleshwar(existing service areas of Gujarat Gas) has increased to Rs 29.96 per kg from Rs 27.50 per kg.

According to company insiders, ex-arrival cost of gas jumped 20% higher due to fluctuation in the rupee-dollar exchange rate and increase in the cost of service due to transportation and measures towards customer safety. The Adani Energy Limited is offering CNG at Rs 30.62 per kg, followed by GSPC at 28.62 per kg and HPCL at Rs 30.62 per kg.

Gujarat Gas had lastly hiked the CNG price about 20 months back.

In Gujarat, about 65000 auto-rickshaws and cars use more than 1.25 lakh standard cubic meter CNG supplied by Gujarat Gas in Surat, Bharuch and Ankleshwar. According to Gujarat Gas website, the company has customer base of over 80,000 CNG users.
