“A leading energy company Gazprom has shown willingness to partner with Gujarat government owned GSPC in joint exploration and production of oil and gas in India and abroad,” D Rajgopalan, Chief Secretary of Gujarat, who briefed the media about recent Russia visit said here today.
Rajgopalan added that another company Sistema has indicated that it would like to set up a manufacturing unit for mobile sim cards and other such chip-based products and representatives from Sistema, Gazprom and Itera will soon visit Gujarat to explore possibilities of setting up business in the state.
According to him, a power point presentation “Advantage Gujarat” was made in Russian language and subsequently, many Russian businessmen and industry representatives sought details for investment opportunities in Gujarat.
Besides, participating in the World Energy Week conference and meeting with the officials of companies, Modi also met leaders of Indian and Gujarati communities settled in Russia, he said.
“By the next Vibrant Gujarat summit in January 2011, we expect a number of Memoranda of Understandings (MOUs) for joint operations with their companies,” he added.
