Ahmedabad to host Indian Pharmaceutical Congress 2009

After prolong interval of 23 years Gujarat will host  Indian Pharmaceutical Congress(IPC) at Ahmedabad on 11-12-13 December this year.

Gujarat Health Minister Jaynagaryan Vyas on Saturday launched a website www.ipc2009.co.in for online registration of delegates and exhibitors. Minister Vyas also released a souvenir of 61st IPC.

“Gujarat produces one third of total basic drugs and formulation in the country. In coming days, Gujarat will produce more than 40% drugs of the nation. Due to sops declare by the central government in for Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh, drug production in Gujarat was 20% lower, but thanks to skilled men power, infrastructure and government’s encouraging policies, Gujarat is again on track. Gujarat has lowered down excise duty on drugs from 16% to 4%. The state has started NABL approved laboratory in Vadodara for testing of drugs. Two more such laboratories are in pipeline at Rajkot and Bhuj,” state minister for Health and Family Welfare Jaynarayan Vyas said.

Chief Patron of IPC and Chairman of Zydus Cadila Pankaj Patel said, “IPC was established in 1948. Gujarat had hosted its 1986 convention. After 23 years Gujarat is again going to host the convention. Central theme of the convention this year is: Pharma Vision 2020-Buidlign Trust in Safety and Efficienty of Medicines.”
