The Expert Appraisal Committee under the MoEF has deferred its recommendation for environmental clearance to Sanghi Energy’s 2×600 MW thermal power station located at Kutch  district of Gujarat.

The land requirement for this project is 500 hectare, which is reportedly government held waste land. Water requirement is pegged at 1, 250 cubic meters per hour, to be sourced from the Kharo Creek. The coal requirement for the project is estimated to be 4 million tonnes per annum, which is likely to be imported from Indonesia.
