Vadodara-Mumbai Express Highway work to begin next year


The acquisition of land for the Vadodara – Mumbai Express Highway will begin in April 2010 and its construction will start from April 2012. Minster of State for Road Transport and Highways R P N Singh said this in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday replying  queries by Jharkhand MP Parimal Nathwani.

The alignment of the Vadodara-Mumbai expressway has been finalised and a consultant has been appointed to prepare a feasibility report, Singh told the House .

The planning and implementation of the expressway will include fixing the alignment, feasibility studies, facility planning, preparation of land-plan schedule, acquisition of land, preparation of bidding documents, financial closure, commencement of construction, its completion and commercial operation.

In 1991, the state government had frozen 300-metre wide land along the proposed alignment of the Vadodara–Mumbai expressway.
