Essar Steel Ltd (ESL) will set up its fifth service centre in the country at Bhuj in district Kutch by March next year.
Essar Steel currently has service centres at Bahadurgarh, Chennai and Pune, besides Hazira in Gujarat, the company said here today. The Bhuj centre will have an annual capacity of two lakh tonnes and will cater to the requirements of clients in the auto and general engineering sectors and also service the Essar Hypermarts, located in northern Gujarat.
This centre would be backed by Essar’s 4.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) Hazira-based steel plant, thus, ensuring steady supplies.
It will enable the company to offer customised products and small lots to users.
The new facility will take the total aggregated capacity of the five centres to 2.7 mtpa.
Essar Steel is a fully integrated flat carbon steel manufacturer — from iron ore to ready-to-market products — with a current capacity of 4.6 mtpa for consumer sectors such as automotive, white goods, construction, engineering and shipbuilding.
